Taxation Issues

A plan introduced by a Texas State Representative proposes to eliminate school property taxes without any raise in business taxes. Our school tax in Little Elm (the highest tax a homeowner pays) has risen steadily for the last four years I've lived in this community.

LITTLE ELM ISD Tax Rate:
2002=1.7112
2003=1.730
2004=1.820
2005=1.840
The plan uses the surplus collected (we have had a surplus every year for the last 15 years except for 2001 due to 9/11) in taxes. Combining controlled spending along with the surplus the school tax collected could be ended for good. You can learn more about this by visiting http://www.donttaxtexas.com
