Working together for the good of the community is what Little Elm is all about. The water safety night hosted by the Cottonwood Creek Marina and the Little Elm Public Library had over 40 attendees who listened to the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Little Elm Police Department, and Denton County Sheriffs Lake Patrol officers talk about lake and boat safety and the importance of wearing life jackets. Mr. Jim’s of Little Elm supported the event by providing free pizza and Cottonwood Creek Marina provided drinks. The library has a copy of the life jacket safety video that can be checked out, watched, and then added to your summer reading club book list.

Saturday, June 10th was a bustle of activity at the library. The Scholastic Book Fair started, family story time had a visit from Curious George, two movies were shown, and the first quilt stitchin bee had the town hall lobby buzzin with activity. Much thanks to Albertsons Store #4293 for providing refreshments. The Stitchin bee is off to a great start, planning a comfort quilts project and asking for participation in Block of the month.

There is still room in the art instruction workshops and the little artist’s art program. On Saturday, June 17th, from 10am-3pm, there will be pre-registration for the Poetry workshops that will be held in July. On that same day, the 1pm Saturday movie matinee will be the Disney film, The Greatest Game.

On Monday, June 19th, at 10am, the library will be holding free English as a Second Language class. From 11am-1130am, the book character Froggy will be visiting. Froggy is sponsored by the Caw Coo Parrothead Club of Little Elm.

The fun doesn’t stop on Monday because on Tuesday there is a teen advisory board meeting from 5:30-6:30pm and at 7pm the adult mystery book club meets and discusses Agatha Christie’s Murder On The Orient Express.

For those of you who have children ages 1-6, the library has a toddler time every Wednesday from 10:15am-10:45am for ages 1-3 and a story time every Wednesday from 11:00am-11:30am. Music, books, and kids, oh my!

The library hours are Monday/Wednesday 10am-5pm, Tuesday/Thursday 12pm-8pm, and Saturday 10am-3pm. For more information about these or any other programs contact the library at
library@littleelm.org or call 214-975-0430. Come see what can be accomplished in a small space with a big heart.
