Little Elm Police Department
Staffing: 1 Chief of Police, 1 Captain, 4 Sergeants, 1 Corporal, 13 Patrol Officers, 1 K-9 Officer, 2 School Resource Officers, 2 Motor Officers, 2 Investigators, 1 Community Service Officer, 28 Total Sworn Officers.

1 Administrative Assistant, 1 Office Clerk, 1 Records Clerk, 1 Animal Control Officer, 1 Kennel Attendant, 5 Total Civilian Positions

Divisions within the PD: Patrol, K-9, Gang Detail, Part Time Lake Patrol, Part Time Bike Patrol, Motor Officer, Investigations, Warrants Officer/Training Coordinator, Community Service/Criminal Justice Instructor, School Resource Officer, Honor Guard, Reserve Postitions, Part Time Property Room, Animal Control.

Officers work 12 hour shifts with every other Friday, Saturday and Sunday off and are dispatched through the Denton County Sheriff's Department.

Fleet and Equiptment: 11 Marked Patrol Cars, 1 K-9 SUV, 2 Motorcycles, 1 Unmarked SUV, 3 Unmarked Patrol Cars, 1 Lake Patrol Boat, 1 Animal Control Truck, 2 Police Bicycles.

Police Officers are issued: Uniforms, Body Armor, Jacket, Rain Gear, Badge, Name Plate, Handheld Radios, Mics, Tie & Hat.

Each officer before signing on duty is issued an: AR-15, 233 Caliber Assault Rifle & 12 Gauge Shot Gun. Officers are also issued a duty bag with a Tint Meter, LED Turbo Road Flares, Finger Print Kit, First Aid Kit, Flashlight Wand, Traffic Vest, Digital Photo Camera and a Nextel Cell Phone. In the near future officers will be issued Tasers and Bean Bag weapons.

In addition to the day-to-day police activities the Department also provides the citizens of the Town with the following Special Services: Texas Insurance Code Home and Alarm Inspections, Security/Vacation Watch, Fingerprinting, Block Party/Child Birthday Party Visits, Crime/Drug Prevention Presentations, Bicycle Rodeo.

2006 2nd Place at National Narcotic Detector Dog Competition
2006 Police Olympics - In the Bike Competition Officer Henigsmith, won 3 Gold Medals & Officer Lewis, won 1 Gold & 1 Silver medal. In the Sniper Competition Officer Walker won 1 Gold & 1 Bronze medal.
