Little Elm Public Library Information 08/01/06

Is it hot enough for you? It is only going to get hotter but the library has some great ways to beat the heat. Coming up this Saturday, August 5th, BeautiControl will be at the library for a Spa-tacular event. They will be providing de-stressing tips, skin care tips, and door prizes. You can sign up at the library for the 10:30 or 1:30 time. Relax and help the library at the same time.

If staying inside and watching movies is on your list, the library has purchased some new DVD’s for your viewing pleasure with the help of Lone Star Grant funds. Some of the titles include Jame’s A. Michener’s Texas; A Star Is Born; Napoleon Dynamite; Hours; Hart’s War; The Golem; Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde; The Flying Deuces; The Fast and The Furious; The Last of the Mohicans; Private Benjamin; Random Hearts; True Heart; War of the Worlds (Tom Cruise); and The Best of Gallagher.

We also receive the top ten of the top forty new release DVD’s each month and some titles that have arrived for this month include Failure to Launch; The World’s Fastest Indian; Glory Road; Eight Below; The Pink Panther; and Annapolis.

It is very fun talking about summer but as we all know, school is right around the corner. A lot of stores are starting to have great sales. While you are picking up supplies for your student, please consider picking up something extra for the Communities in Schools of North Texas school supply drive. The Little Elm Public Library and the Communities in Schools of North Texas are partnering to make sure that all students have the items needed to have a successful school year. If you are interested in helping, drop by the library and pick up a supply list. You can drop off the supplies at the library as well. Items will be collected during the month of August.

If you are interested in making a difference in a student’s life, Communities in Schools of North Texas is also looking for volunteer mentors and tutors. For more information contact Tina Burley at
tburley@cisnt.org or call 972-436-6377.
